Brenda is so INCREDIBLE! I'm obsessed with her work. She took photos of my daughter a few months back and I've already made another appointment. I am inspired, amazed, and in awe of her talent! Tonya…to answer your question…for example, shooting wide open on your 50mm 1.4, would be shooting with an f-stop of 1.4. It makes a world of difference in your photos as you get great bohek and blurry backgrounds where as you subject (where ever you placed your focus) is in focus.

Thanks for the interview and tips. I’ve saved her site to take a closer look later.Question….what does “wide open” mean in the photography world? I just purchased a canon 50mm 1.4 and the term was used in this interview of how she used it. I’m like your other mommy peepers here who is new to some of the photography lingo I read here from time to time.

I have loved Brenda's work for a long time now (several years), too. She inspired me to look for areas in my house with great window light. Still not sure I have an area as good as hers, but finding those spots really helped me practice more and helped me improve my photography. What a great blog you have here, too!
