My Second Full Time Job
I absolutely love our new house. I’ve been spending the last week driving to different stores ordering light fixtures, furniture, and paint. It’s become another full time job. I’m absolutely horrible at interior design. I may be a little creative when it comes to photography, but that’s just about where my creativity ends. In our old house I found that I was always buying new things for the house because I never had a vision of what I wanted the decor to be. And that’s probably why we repainted our bedroom 3 times in less than 5 years. I knew that I didn’t want to do that in this house. I wanted to buy furniture that was going to last us for more than a year or two. I really wanted to hire an Interior Designer, but knew that I would most likely not be able to afford one that I liked. And then I found Jennifer. I found her blog through a blog of a blog of a blog and I instantly loved it because she puts together outfits. I need help in that department too! As I kept reading I saw that she did virtual interior design as well. I emailed her thinking it was going to be a minimum of $250 a room. I was shocked when she emailed the price back! $75 a room! I immediately asked her to design my office / meeting room, living room, and the room off of the kitchen. I emailed her pictures of the rooms and a sketch with measurements. Not only does she do a 3-D design of the room and tells you where to place furniture and decor she also sources everything that goes into the room! Even down to the business candle holders and trash cans. She works with furniture you already have and works with any budget. I was also very impressed because she included little details in the rooms that really reflect us. She went back and read my blog to really get a sense of who we are and she knocked it out of the ballpark! Here is the office design.

Everything is pretty much ordered and ready to go, but does anyone know a good (cheap) place to buy black and white damask wallpaper. I love the wallpaper that is in the room, but it’s $90 a roll! Yikes! I’m looking for a cheaper alternative before I commit. I’ll be posting the rest of the house tomorrow! Thanks Jennifer for doing such an awesome job! I’m excited for you to do our bedroom and Brayden’s room too!

wow, this is pretty cool. Any way you could stensil the design on the wall and paint vs. wallpaper?

Hey Drew! Congrats on the new house. I was thinking the same thing as the first comment. Paint. You should call my Mom or check out her website. She could do it and do all the LOVE lettering etc. Maybe I could convince her to do a trade. Photo’s for my baby girl and paint for you? Her website is http://www.susiesims.com/

Drew-
I know this is going to sound crazy but try the Target website. I have typed in black and white damask and it has come up with some amazing stuff and I am almost certain there was wallpaper as well. (They have some super cute B&W damask prep bowls that would look to cute on your desk for paper clips etc.) I know there was wallpaper for pink and white damask but I can’t remember the pricing. The other option would be ebay. They have everything!
I don’t know what source she is recommending for the words above the door but Wall Words has some amazing decals and you can change them whenever you want w/o much effort. Hope this helps!
How about covering some super largecanvas mats with damask fabric and do a repeat pattern of three hangings in the middle of the room. Use same or contrasting color on the same wall as hangings. Does this make sense? I love your design. It’s eye popping!
What I mean is to cover the canvas with the wallpaper. Sorry…a little confusing. Hope that helps.
That is so cool and something that I totally need help with. I am so bad at interior design. I will have to keep that in mind the next time I am wanted to try to decorate!!
I’m going to check out her blog right now. That’s pretty good idea! can’t wait to see the “real” reveal!
Hey Drew , Sherwin williams has damask wallpaper for $33 a roll and home depot has it for around $40. Hope this helps! Can’t wait to see the finished product!
What a cool concept.
Try looking up that same wallpaper at Eades.com? It might be Eadeswallpaper.com too…not sure.
They usually have great prices.
to get a large image on your wall in that pattern:
1- have the image printed onto a clear sheet,
2- rent a projector from an office supply store
3- project the image onto your wall
4- trace it out with pencil
5- paint away!
it would take a while to paint it, but cheaper.
i saw this d one on HGTV. good luck!
Hi Drew!
Yes- already blog stalking. This is the coolest thing I have ever heard of. You sound just like me. I have lived in my house for five years and have painted several of the rooms at least twice. I like to think that I’m creative, but for some reason my house never looks like I want it to. I think I watch to much HGTV! When I buy my second home I wll be giving this girl a call! Thanks for the resource.
