That’s A Lot of Love…
Mom*tog opened it’s doors just 6 months and 12 days ago and yesterday we reached a milestone… 1000 comments! I don’t even know what made me think to look, but I caught it at 999. How exciting! The lucky 1000th commenter was my dear friend, Polka Dot Bride (you should seriously go read her blog cause she’s Australian and that makes her rad!).
I want to thank everyone for their wonderful comments and very nice emails. It totally makes all the extra work worthwhile when I know I’m helping so many people out. I do get the occasional “Tell me how you (fill in the blank). I feel I deserve the right to know everything you have spent the past four years learning in 100 words or less” emails and they are discouraging. No introductions. No thank you’s. Just people who feel they are entitled to anything and everything. I get it. I’ve put myself out there so maybe I deserve those emails. But, my original goal with Mom*tog has always been to help mom’s take better pictures of THEIR kids. Not to help professional photographers take better pictures of other people’s kids
If I’m helping other pros out there than that’s great. But, that’s not what the goal of this blog is. I think I can also say now that a new goal is to help inspire other’s to fulfill their dreams. To show them that becoming a professional photographer while being a mom is a totally realistic goal.
Please keep the emails and comments coming. And please do send your questions. But, just remember when writing your emails that I am a real person who has real feelings and a little “please” and “thank you” always go a long way
Thanks, Mom*togs! You all rock!

Oh WOW… Congrats on 1,000 comments already. That is HUGE for just starting a little more than 6 months ago. What can I say, Mom*tog rocks!

I love your blog and your work. I’m not sure if I’ve commented before, but I’m always reading and enjoying the info you share. My “baby” boy, Barrett (19 months), is just a bit older than your little man. So, I love seeing your pictures of him and what he’s up to. THANKS so much for all the great tips. Keep it up!

Hi Drew! I never comment but thought I would now to help you get to 2,000!
I visit both of your sites everyday and love them! Sometimes I check them more than once just in case you posted again! I am so totally appreciative of all that you share with us and love watching you and Brayden together! Thanks again!
Well said!
I don’t think I have ever commented but I LOVE your blog! I am a stay at home mom with a passion for photography and a dream to become a professional but have no clue where to even start. My husband bought me PSElements 7 and I have had fun playing and editing pics but need to move on to investing in a great camera and/or figuring out how to use the one I own on manual settings. Your blog is encouraging, inspiring, and used to teach me that I too may be able to do this one day! SO THANKS!
Yay Drew! I’ve been seeing this button on Julie’s blog and finally clicked it today. Had no idea it was you until I searched around a bit.
Now can you tell me everything about how to be a professional photographer? And make it short, because I don’t have time to read long emails.
Ha!
Keep doing your thing Drew! You have helped many I’m sure. I’m a better mom and photographer because of it. Love ya! Oh yeah….in case I haven’t told you in a while…THANK YOU X 1,000! Happy 1,000 comment day!
This is my first time to comment on your blog, but I’ve been reading for a while now. I just had my first baby in June, and just bought my first non-point and shoot camera (a Canon Digital Rebel- thanks, in part, to your recommendations) last week. So I especially need your blog now. Thank you so much for sharing so much with us. It has been so helpful. I’ve managed to get some pretty cute pictures already of Elizabeth, using stuff you’ve written about. Keep it comin!
you rock simple as that
i love your blog. i’ve learned so much since discovering it. i added the button too! have a good week!
Congratulations, my friend! You deserve all your success and more. And Thank You for your support and encouragement to this fellow momtog in pursuit of my dreams.
Drew, I am so thankful for this blog! You have shared so much, that has made it so fun, to take more pics of my little guy! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! I have been married for over 8 yrs now, but sometimes wish, we could do it all over again, so we could have you as our photog! Love ya!
How is it that he DOES look older with just a little bit of hair gone? Great pictures!
Congrats!!
ha ha, i have been embarrased to ask your secrets because i knew your goal in trying to educate moms to be photographers…but what about those of us who are infertiles, animal mommies or those of us that havent had our children yet? i see how people can be rude by not being thankful or not giving much of an introduction, but maybe people think you like things short and sweet and might not have the time to get to know each of your readers- you are quite popular afterall. i would love to know some secrets so that i can be a future momtog…through no fault of my own not being one right now.

..or rather one, as of yet..
This is a big THANK YOU! I check you blog daily to see what’s new and I’m amazed at the moments you capture each time I look at one of your photos. My girls are soon to be 3 and 5 and you have inspired me to take more pictures even if it is with my Canon SD880. Thanks again!
Okay, I am so behind on your blog! And I find myself wanting to leave a comment on every post I have missed! Congrats on 1000 comments! That is huge! And a huge THANK YOU for all that you do and all that you share. Your the bestest!
hi there! When I found your blog (don’t know how!) I fell in love with it right away! Now I find that it’s pretty new, and that makes it even greater – how did you pack so much information and style in only about six months??
I am a Momtog, or not even that yet. You have already answered many of my doubts. I live in Brazil, and I have never seen work such as yours. You make ordinary locations seem amazing! So I was wondering how do you choose your locations? What do you look for? How can I go from “pretty child in the garden” to your “fairytale family in beautiful woods bathed in sunlight”, LOL?
Anyway, congratulations and thank you!!
Erica
I just had an Ah ha moment reading your blog:) Thank you!!! I am a single mom of a fantastic 2 year old boy who loves photography. Thank you so much for unknowingly giving me encouragement to keep learning and taking pictures! Sacha
Hello… after reading your post I felt compelled to thank you thank you thank you! I know that was not your intention… however I am a mom that LOVES your blog, advice, pics, and your spunk!
I am not a professional by a long shot… however I do feel that I have become a better MOMTOG since finding your site.
So… no questions here, just admiration.
Thank you for being so giving and working so hard!
Congratulations to your 1000th post.
