Bye Bye Highchair
It’s official. Brayden refuses to sit in his highchair.
50 1.2 – 2.5, 1/160, ISO 125

He will only sit at the table. Which is fine, except he’s a little too short and our chairs are very unstable. See how sad and lonely his highchair is back there?
I really, really, really want this:

The Stokee Tripp Trapp highchair is like the Chanel of highchairs. If I would have known what I know now I would have bought this as our highchair rather than buying a highchair that only lasted us a year. The Tripp Trapp grows with you! Brayden’s friend Kylan has one and B got to test it out at a play date last week. He loved it! He sat at the table for a prolonged period of time and ate like a big boy. Kylan’s mom, Kathy, is a pro at finding amazing deals on Craiglist and that’s where she bought hers. I didn’t have such luck.
I love it, but $250? Seems a bit steep. If the wonderful people at Stokke wanted to send one on over though we would definitely put it to good use. Until then I’ll save my pennies and keep searching Craigslist.

Hi! I’ve been lurking on your blog.
One Step Ahead has a cheaper version of this chair here if you’re interested:

Just thought I’d share.

Our boys are so similar not only in age but in stages too. Patrick decided last night that he wanted to sit at the table as well (we have the same high chair that you do) I highly recommend the $25 Fisher Price booster. Works great on any chair and travels with you to visit friends! Cheap too!

Would your highchair slide up to your table? I can’t tell from the height in the pictures. Can you take the tray off and slide it up close enough to the table to work?
I recommend a booster seat as well.
Love the picture of him at the table, he looks so sweet. And I agree $250 for a highchair… don’t think so. They do have those little booster seat type chairs that strap to a chair. Maybe that would help give him an extra boost and keep him strapped in to. (They are only about $20 at Walmart)

So cool! I looked online to see if I could find a lower price… found a site having a contest to give one away – it’s open until 9/23! http://baby.momcentral.com/2009/09/tripp-trapp-chair-review-and-giveaway.html. I also found one on ebay with a current bid of $99. Good luck!!

We have a Chicco hook on highchair that works great! My daughter also wouldn’t sit in her high chair but this little chair is her preferred seat after 2 1/2 years.

Really, is that how much those cost? I was given one (but without the padding & it’s white) from my friend who was doing the IT for a posh baby store (apparently if someone returns stuff they won’t resell it, so they just give it to the corp. employees, I got a lot of cool/expensive stuff from him). When I’m done with mine you can have it (I have a feeling Kate will start refusing to sit in it by Christmas!)!

Drew, although this chair is super cute, I just think it’s a little silly to pay that kind of money. To be honest, I think any booster chair over $50 is ridiculous.I bought Dakota’s booster seat for $25 and it works great, AND I can travel with it!!!!! If she does ever grow out of it, which I doubt she will since she’s so skinny, I can just buy another seat for just as cheap. And then I’ll have only spent about $50 total on booster chairs. Just a thought.
Thanks for the input on booster seats everyone. We already have that booster seat and he moves too much for it. Either that or our Ikea chairs are just too unstable
Drew, which one do you have? We have the the Healthy Care Booster which you can find at Target. We cinch that thing down good with the two harnesses that came with it, and it doesn’t budge one bit.
We have the Cooshee by Baby Smart. It is just a nice little booster similar in material like the Bumbo, but just sits in your chair. Ours is black because our chairs are black. Check it out!!

We have the Cooshee (sp?) too. Actually we have three of them! Light weight, they don’t slip, easy to throw in the car and my daughter is now 3 and sits in it every single night! Highly recommend it for $40!

I second the kaboost. Mine is brown to match the chairs we have. Here is the site http://www.kaboost.com/
oh yes the wonderful trip trap highchair! LOVE it… I’ve tried it and if I had the money would’ve bought it, but instead we purchased the one from One Step ahead. It’s still $100 and it works just the same, but I like the trip trap better

We have the Fisher-Price booster for restaurant use since I feel like it’s so much cleaner to take our own than to use the public ones, but use the Stokke at home. Sorry ladies, once you go Stokke, you can’t go back. It’s awesome since the kiddo can climb into it all by himself and you can strap him in to ensure that he won’t leave until he’s done eating! Also, once you see how well your kid does when he takes it for a test drive, you will know why parents seriously pay an arm and a leg for these chairs. Drew, I’m on the look out for you!
My child is going through the same thing! She refuses to sit in her highchair anymore. I really like the one you posted on here, I just wish like you that I would have never purchased the other one. She didn’t even use it until she was about 7 months, and then she wants nothing to do with it at 17 months. lol! Toddlers….always driving their Mama’s crazy!
