Get On Their Level

One of my favorite things that Brayden has been doing lately is laying on his stomach and pushing his cars, trucks, and trains around.  I just think it’s so cute and I love seeing his imagination at work.  

A good tip to getting great pictures of your kids playing is to get down on their level.  For the pictures below I was laying on my stomach while I took them.  When you’re on their level you capture what they’re seeing.  And remember to get in close and focus on the details like their little hands on their toys.

PS  I swear my child has clothes!  He just ate mac and cheese and I take his clothes off when he’s eating something messy like that :)

    I was just wondering why your shot these at such high ISOs. It is my understanding that the higher the ISO the grainier the photo. It doesn’t look like you didnt have enough light for a lower ISO. I am trying to learn as much as possible about photography and if you could explain this to me that would be great!

    500 isn’t really that high of an ISO for indoor shots and it was an overcast day outside. I maybe could have come down to 400 and lowered my shutter speed, but with a camera like the 5D Mark II you’re not going to get noise until you are shooting at 1200 or 1600. With a camera like the Rebel you will get noise at a much lower ISO. You always want to shoot at the lowest ISO possible, but with my camera the difference between 400 and 500 is very little so I really wasn’t that careful about it.

    I should also add that I always shoot at 125 ISO when shooting outdoors on a bright, sunny day.

    Thanks for explaining :) I hope to have a good camera sometime soon so I can take photos and not worry about grain at 500 lol
