Choo Choo!

I took my sick boy to the train station today.  The boy is obsessed with choo choos!  Obsessed.  It’s all he talks about.  Well, that and lions and Gaca (Madagascar).  When we were in San Diego this past weekend we went to the little Carlsbad train station, but only saw one train.  We had much better luck at the Fullerton train station this morning.  We saw at least 10 trains.  B loved it!  I thought I would be the only one there with their kid, but there was actually a group of moms who all seemed to know each other there with their kids too!  How funny!

I have no pictures from today because I was afraid if I let him go he would jump on the tracks, but maybe this is where B’s obsession started.  These are Brayden’s two month pictures at the very same train station we went to today.

I know.  Probably not the safest thing, but I love it especially now that he loves trains so much.  Don’t worry, Chuck was standing right next to the chair in case he rolled off :)

You can’t see the train in this one, but I love it too!

More posts coming soon when we are all well, which is hopefully tomorrow because we’ve got a big play date at the pumpkin patch!!!

Drew? Where are you?

I’m here!  Just very tired after a big wedding on Saturday and a little mini vaca to San Diego Sunday and Monday.  We took Brayden to his most favorite place on Earth… The San Diego Zoo!  He loved it… again!  But, now he’s sick and needs lots and lots of attention.  So, I’ll be back very soon with a new post.  For now, go check out what’s been happening on the DrewB Blog.  And I’ll leave you with this picture from my iphone of B.  He picked out these sunglasses from the zoo.  My kid is so cool!

So. You Live In A Cave…

You live in a cave.

And you have zero natural light in your house.

Does your cave have a garage?

Go in your garage.

Open the garage door.

Bribe your model to sit close to the edge of the garage.

Do crazy things to get them to smile.

The end.

Seriously, it may not be the prettiest spot in the house, but you’ll get great light.  I would suggest moving the cleaning supplies and paper towels before you start.

If you really make an effort the garage is an amazing place to shoot.  Maybe even set up a fake studio.  This doesn’t solve the problem of not being able to use natural light for everyday snapshots, but as I’ve said over and over your everyday snapshots don’t have to be perfect.  Because they’re just snapshots.  So flash away on those shots.  I would suggest using the garage when you want to get more portraity shots of your kids.  Try it!  Let me know how this works for you cave dwellers out there :)

PS Thank you to my friend, Julie, for sending Brayden this awesome B shirt!  We love it!

This Is Halloween

This doesn’t have anything to do with photography, but we took Brayden to see the Halloween fireworks show at Disneyland and it’s awesome!  We could see the fireworks from our walk around our neighborhood last night and he loved them.  He loved them so much that he got very mad when they stopped.  So we decided to take him to see them up close.  We didn’t have the best seats, but it was such an amazing show.  Totally gave me chills.  Brayden didn’t love the fireworks that close, but he didn’t hate them either.  Sorry, no pictures because I lost my point and shoot charger :(  If you’re in So Cal  make sure you make a time to go and see it.  I promise you’ll love it!

PS  For those of you who live in “caves” I’m trying to do a natural lighting post for you.  Hopefully my subject will be a little more cooperative today than he was yesterday.  A 19 month old isn’t always the best model :)  While he’s cute he sure is stubborn!
