Back in the good old days when we use to write letters on paper and put them in the mail with a stamp would you have ever written a letter without a greeting? Â Or end a letter without a closing? Â Maybe a “thanks for your time” or “have a great day!”. Â Sometimes the internet makes me sad and the way we write to each other and talk to one another (or even about one another). Â I think it’s so easy to not be polite when we are hiding behind our computer screens. Â It feels safe. Â Like you can get away with anything because you don’t really know the person, right? Â Maybe be braver than you would be in person. Â Say things you wouldn’t say to someone’s face.
I think we should all try harder to be more polite to one another. Â Take the time to say “hi” and “thanks”. Â Because even if you don’t know the person on the other end they are still a real person. Â In every email I write I do my best to be nice, polite, and cheerful. Â I don’t know what the person on the other end of my emails day has been like. Â And if by taking the time to ask them how they are and to thank them can help make their day a little better then I will take the extra time to do that.
There are many thing that I want to teach Brayden, but one thing that I try to teach him everyday by example is to be kind. Â To be kind to everyone. Â To open doors for others, say thank you when others open doors for us, do my best to be polite while driving (which is a tough one for me!), always say please and thank you, ask a cashier how their day has been, give random compliments to brighten the day of a stranger. Â While I am human, I do my best to lead by example because more than anything I want Brayden to grow up to be a happy and kind human being.
Happy Monday!

I love this about you.
It shines.
And I want to eat your kid.
Can’t take his cuteness.

I completely agree with you!
With all the texting and emailing teens do today, I’m constantly reminding my teen that just because she finds her text humorous or funny, the person on the other end might take offense at it! It’s a hard lesson to learn, the written work (or text) doesn’t always come across the way we “hear” it in our own heads.
Wonderful post – have fab day!

I couldn’t agree more and sometimes I think that if people would take a second to read what they wrote then maybe, just maybe they would realize that it is so nasty. I especially like it when people have to preface a comment with “you might not want to hear this but…” Really, just stop there!
Your awesome!

That is an adorable shot of B…and I agree, people seem to be losing the art of communicating! Thanks for the reminder!

Amen Drew. It’s sad some of the things I read on forums and blog comments. We should all try to be nice no matter what the circumstance.
Yes people don’t teach this nearly enough to their kids anymore.. it is pretty sad. Good for you

Hello Drew, You took the words out of my mouth. Yes, I totally agree with you, I always try and set a good example for my two young ladies (10 yrs old & 6 yrs old) as well. My BIG diss is when I offer people something and they will reply with a big fat NO! Hey, how about NO thank you, but thank you for asking. I answer that way to everyone even my brother’s dog, when doggy wants to lick me in the face, I tell him No thank you, but thanks anyways (HAHA). Love the pic of B, and he is wearing clothes. Have a Wonderful day!
Dear Drew,
This is so very true! Wave at your neighbors. Smile at the cashier and ask him or her how they are doing. Usually they are the ones required to ask you this and it’s a nice surprise to be asked instead. You’ll even be surprised that if you are the one having a bad day, it can make you feel better too.
Thank you so much for everything you share with the internet world! I’ve been following your blogs for a while now and have learned so much from you! Hopefully I’ll be ordering your unposing guide soon!
Hope you have the best day ever!
Love,
Jessica
Your son is so adorable! I am a self-proclaimed “blog-stalker” of both your blogs, and I look forward to seeing your pictures everyday. I have a list of blogs that I look at, and always save yours for last so that I end on a positive note. Thank you for being a bright spot in my day
Have a great one!

Hi Drew!
I just wanted to say hi! So glad to see that you, Chuck, and Brayden are doing well.
Take care!
Alex
GREAT post! great reminder!!! thanks!
You are so right!! I try and set the same example for my kids and unfortunately not everyone has followed this advice. I hope that lots of people read this and remember how it feels on both ends!! Thanks Drew
Well said! I catch myself getting annoyed at ridiculous stuff and my kids notice EVERYTHING. This is a great reminder that treating others well can only payoff for everyone around us… especially our kids!
