Dear Brayden,
Happy 21 month birthday, B! Â This month I’m not even going to try to make a list of all the things you can say. Â Your vocabulary list is so long now that sometimes I can’t even remember what you can and can’t say. Â Your favorite words right now are “up”, “down”, “push”, “pull”, “flowers”, “more”, “water”, and “juice”. Â You love your opposites although you sometimes get them mixed up. Â I love how you say “yes” (“ha”) and I hope you never, ever say it correctly. Â I think it’s just about the cutest thing ever. Â That and how you add an “s” to a lot of your words. Â Like “mores”. Â I know we should probably correct you, but I actually encourage it because I think it’s so cute. Â I love how in the morning you will stay in your crib and yell, “MAMA! Â DADA!”. Â Sometimes I will stay in bed and every time you yell “MAMA!” I will yell “BRAYDEN” back at you and see how long I can stay in bed before I really have to go get you. Â I don’t like it when you yell for us in the middle of the night for no reason. Â At least you’re not jumping out of your crib anymore! Â Thank goodness!
You love to hide. Â Sometimes when it’s just the two of us you’ll hear a noise and think it’s Dada (even though he’s at work) and say, “Hide! Â Hide”. Â You’ll hide for a minute before you realize no one is coming to find you. Â You also love to be scared and surprised. Â I think it’s fun to scare and surprise people so we have a lot of fun at that.
You will eat just about anything as long as you can dip it. Â Tonight at dinner you dipped your fries in cranberry sauce. Â That freaked me out a bit. Â At Pretend City last week you dipped your pb and j in ranch. Â That really freaked me out. Â But, I did get you to eat carrots by letting you dip in ranch. Â And you also tried hummus by dipping pita bread in it. Â
You learned to kick really well this month. Â And with your left foot, I might add. Â Just like your mommy. Â I think we have a left midfielder on our hands! Â Or maybe a kicker for UCLA? Â Daddy says you’re not allowed to be a football kicker. Â Too much pressure. Â I think you can handle the pressure though.
We took you to your very first UCLA football game. Â You had the best day of your life. Â Better than the San Diego Zoo. Â Better than Disneyland. Â We sat three rows behind the old man. Â You learned how to boo. Â You danced and did the Eight Clap and got the Washington fans behind us to be UCLA fans because you were so cute. Â You said “mores” when the band stopped playing. Â I will never forget that day. Â One of the best days of my life too. Â And we won. Â First Pac-10 win of the season. Â You’re their good luck charm. Â Â
I love how you bite your bottom lip when you’re thinking. Â You get that from me. Â One of the only things you get from me besides your crazy stubbornness. Â
Oh, and my boy can also say boobs now. Â He actually calls them “boops”. Â I guess he’s starting young.
I can’t wait to see what you will do next, B. Â I’m so proud of you. Â Every time you learn something new or do something different I am so unbelievably, crazy proud of you. Â My heart hurts I’m so proud of you. Â And although I’m excited to see you grow, I also hope you will never stop being my baby. Â Never stop holding my hand, giving me moochies, snuggling in the crook of my arm. Â I hope you always get as excited to see a choo choo as you do now. Â I hope you never lose your sense of curiosity of everything that’s happening around you. Â I hope you are always able to dance like no one’s watching. Â And even when you’re taller than me I hope you will always know that you will be my little B boy always and forever.
Love,
Mama

My kids are creepy dippers too. Pizza in applesauce? Yum. PB&J in ranch, also a fave. Gummy vitamins in cereal? The best. Bananas in pizza sauce? Scrumptious.
Barf.
Anyway, I love how crazy happy Brayden is at the game!! What a memory for him!
J can’t wait to take Halley in her cheerleading outfit to a team who remain nameless’ game!

I love your updates and wish I were better at doing this sort of thing for my daughter who is a month older. It has been fun watching my daughter grow and “seeing” your son do the same as I’ve been following you over the past year.
Its nice to see how you baby is not a baby… it is becoming a boy
My little Victoria is the same age that Brayden and… now it is not a baby… its a little girl
. Now she is speaking only with one word: Pez, pez (fish, fish… it is Nemo, from de movie), ojo, ojo (eye, eye,… it is Mike, from Mosters Inc.), mama, papa, papIIIIIIIIIIII, … a lot of words… she is like a little parrot
Nice to see you and your family.
Kisses from Spain.
Best post ever mama. You and B are the best. I love you both very very very much.

I was just browsing blogs and am so happy I came across yours! I have a 6 week old (as of today!) little boy and am going to start writing him letters, too. I absolutely loved reading this… It really brought a smile to my face and reminds me how much I look forward to watching my baby bear grow, change, and learn! He already amazes me with each day.
Also – what a beautiful little boy you have! (and with a great name!)
I can hardly stand it…He’s SOOO cute! Aren’t boys just the sweetest ( well when they want to be anyway). I have to… Jack is 5 and JoshBrody will be 3 at the end of dec. They are without a doubt GOD’s greatest gift to me! When I read your blogs about Brayden, I feel the pride you have for him. I know that feeling better than any other! I am SOO proud to be the mommy of two precious little men! It’s a big responsibility to be the mother of a boy… We must teach them how to be a gentleman, so they can be wonderful husbands one day! ( Oh goodness, I feel the tears coming)
Better stop before I loose it completly!
