Awesome

You know what’s awesome?

When your kid is sick and he coughs non-stop from 5am to 9am (no that’s not the awesome part).

So you contemplate if you should make an appointment with the doctor.

After another 15 minutes of non-stop coughing you make an appointment.

He coughs all the way to the doctor and the whole time in the waiting room.

Then the doctor comes in and he doesn’t cough once.

Not once.

And the doctor looks at you like you are crazy.

She says everything looks fine and probably notes in your chart that you could have munchausen syndrome.

And then you get the kid back in the car and he coughs the whole way home.

That’s awesome.

Happy Friday!

  3. AmyC says:

Oh man! So sorry. I know how frustrating that is!

  4. Jen Barnes says:

OMG, doesn’t that ALWAYS happen? I have three boys and it happens with ALL of them. Better safe than sorry has become my mantra.

Every. single. time. This totally cracked me up because I can sooooooo relate. Such a bummer. Hope he gets to feeling better!

LOL! So BTDT! Hope he’s better soon.

(p.s. and OT, did you quit the formspring?)

That is awesome and hilarious…kind of like taking my sweet little girl who loves her ears, getting 4 teeth at the same time, and constantly sick this winter to get her ears checked 5 times…nothing every time! I wonder what the nurses say?

  10. Jessica says:

That happened to me except my child had croup and my doctor said that it was the fresh air. Getting out of the and the fresh air clears the lungs and helps them breathe better (especially if it is cold air). So next time he has a coughing attack take him outside for a few minutes and see if that helps.

UGH, happens EVERY time when we go as well. I took my son in twice in one week because he was coughing so badly at night. Of course, he told the doctor he was feeling just fine, and the doctor told me to feed him a spoonful of honey every few hours. UM, did I need to spend $35 for each visit to hear that?! Haha, enough of my rant! I am keeping my fingers crossed that your little one gets better very soon!! xoxox Holly

No joke that is exactly what happened to me last Thursday when I took Braden for the same thing to the doctor. She too looked at me weird and then said “if” he is still coughing when we get home give him Mucinex, that worked really well by the way!

  13. haha! it’s like you want to run back into the waiting room to have the other patients vouch that he was, indeed, coughing, so the doctor doesn’t think you’re crazy, lol :

  14. Tonya says:

Too crazy! I don’t know if he’s too little for this yet but Delsym Cough liquid always works for my guys. It takes yummy too in orange and grape flavor and he doesn’t have to take very much of it. Hope he is on the mend.

  15. Ashley says:

Seriously? The kid can’t fake a fever! I say you get a second opinion (:

  16. Cat Watson says:

Oh my gosh! That’s hilarious. Except, I’m sure you are not thinking it’s hilarious:) Made for a good story at least! Kids are just destined to make liars out of us:)

  17. Shannon says:

Ok, so I shouldn’t be laughing, but your description is great and it is so true. :) Hope your little man feels better soon!

  18. Nikki says:

I hear ya! Happens all the time. Just like when you are sitting at home listening to the coughing when finally…it stops, you try to go to sleep…..and….NO!….it starts up again. So sorry, there’s nothing worse than sick kids, Hang in there. =)

  19. Jessica says:

So sorry…it’s no fun when little ones are sick. My 2 year old had a cough that wouldn’t quit and a mild fever last summer. Her ped. said it was nothing…took her twice…we finally were admitted to the hospital with walking pneumonia. Just keep a watch on the cough and if it persists take him back even if they think you’re crazy!

  20. THAT is awesome! i just love when that happens! (NOT)

  21. Ada says:

HA! Ok, that is SO super not-awesome. Makes a mom feel like she’s destined for pediatric-front-desk-gossip, doesn’t it. Oh well! 5 kids & 13 years later….there is still nothing that helps a cough for little guys that works. It gets easier when they can drink tea or suck on a lozenge (sp?). I do have a secret for a really really bad-can-hardly-swallow-sore throats. Slurpee. Yup, they give momentary relief & sometimes that’s all you need. :)
    Hope he feels better!

  22. Jen Imus says:

I hear you on this…. I’ve now gotten to the point where I almost NEVER take my kids to the doctor anymore except for well checks. It seems like most everything is viral, and my kids always end up catching something ELSE from the waiting room! I hope he feels better in time for your trip!

  23. Tracy says:

Wow! I thought I was the only one that that happened to. The kids do this to me ALL the time!

  24. Lauren R. says:

Isn’t that the way it goes! Or how awesome is it, that the only time your kid gets sick, it is on a weekend, when the office is closed! The best word for being a mommy is “humbled.”
