Make Believing

Yesterday I caught my boy playing make believe by himself.  He was talking to himself and saying, “Brayden choo choo!  Go choo choo!”.  So I quietly went into my office and grabbed my camera.  Here he is acting shy for getting caught.

Then his train broke so he grabbed some power tools to fix it.

And then he said, “Mama!  Choo choo pease?” and pointed to my seat in front of him.  I mean, really.  How could I resist this face?

So we rode the train to Disneyland and then to the park and then to Florida.  I love my little man.

On Formspring someone asked me if there are certain ISO’s that I don’t go above indoors.  ISO is all relative to your camera.  On a Rebel I probably wouldn’t shoot above 800.  It will just be too grainy and noisy.  I obviously always do my best to stay at a low ISO, but all of the above pictures were taken at an ISO of 640.  It was pretty cloudy when I shot these pictures, but there was a window to the right and behind me (depending on the picture).  Remember, I shoot with the Canon 5D.  I am very confident with the ISO on that camera body.  That’s one of the things that comes with having a better camera body.

Don’t you love it when you catch them doing something so incredibly cute? He’s at such a fun age – there will only be much of that to come. I have 19 month old girl and I’m starting to see the imaginary stuff show through and can’t wait.

Oh my goodness these are so real and so adorable! I LOVE that 2nd one! That smile just lights up his whole face! SO cute! And then him using his tools… well, these just melted my heart!

Sorry, have to disagree. 800 is WAY too high on a rebel. It will be extremely grainy at 800. I’d say more like 400 or lower.

It’s been a long time since I’ve shot with a rebel but I remember shooting at 800 and it being okay. Not great but okay. As long as you are exposing correctly in camera and not having to do major corrections in pp you should be fine.

he is a cutie! i love sneaking up on my daughter and listening to her conversations.

a question about iso. i have the rebel xs. so if you shoot with iso 800 or below (which is what i strive for to avoid the grainy images) and you have your aperture wide open, say at 1.8 and your trying to meter and need a higher iso meter correctly do you just need a flash to avoid going higher with the iso? i hope this question makes sense.
