USPS Rocks… Most of the Time

I hate going to the post office.  Actually, I hated it before I had Brayden and could go by myself.  Now I absolutely loathe going to the post office with a toddler in tow.  Nothing about it is fun or easy.  The parking lot is a disaster and I always feel lucky when I come out of there unscathed.  The lines are just ridiculous at anytime of day it seems.  It’s just not a pleasant experience in general.  I found myself procrastinating shipping my packages because I hated going.

Now, I know I’m probably the last person on the earth to try this.  But, last week I started shipping my packages online and scheduling for my postman to pick them up at my front door.  And I think most of my packages actually got to their intended recipients.  It’s brilliant, I tell you!  I might actually enjoy shipping my packages now!  I have some of the priority mail flat rate boxes (which are free!), but the aren’t the most ideal sizes for shipping prints and the flat rate shipping prices are kind of pricey.  I’ve found that using my own boxes (which I recycle from my lab) is cheaper.  Then I just print out my postage online and schedule my pickup!  It’s easy peezy!

If you’re not already using it, you should.  It’s life changing!

I can’t stand going to the PO for the same reasons! But, I’ve been too chicken to try online shipping. :P

I abso-looot-ley agree with you. and my hubby is a mail carrier. and i never go cuz i have three kids, 2 of which are red heads! but, i can’t even rely on my hubby to mail my stuff because they made it a rule that mail carriers have to wait in line like everyone else at the end of the day, and well my hubs end of the day is when the office is closed, so i think yes i will be copying you and ordering online, because i too procastinate in that area! big time!

I so wholeheartedly 100% agree. I’ve been using their online services for YEARS. The boxes are free… I set the box on my mailbox…. that’s it. LOVE LOVE LOVE it. I did it before having kids, but man oh man, it is life freeing after kids!

Also, it costs $1 to buy stamps. Whatever quantity. I usually buy a bunch of books and pay the $1. It is SOOOOOO worth $1 not to have to lug the kids in there, wait in line, to buy ugly stamps!

This is the best invention EVER! A few years ago, I got into an Ebay kick. I would NEVER go to the post office. I would leave a bunch of boxes by my door and they’d pick them up. You seriously could live nowadays without ever leaving your house!

One thing that I did was invest in a postal scale (like $20). And I went online to USPS.com, ordered the size boxes I needed (they come in like packs of 10) and they deliver THOSE right to your door too! Then you can print out your postage/shipping label right from their website. Tape it on the top, and you’re ready to go. I think that ends up being cheaper than the flat-rate boxes for a lot of the shipments.

Online postage saved my children’s lives.
Okay, so that may be a tiny bit dramatic, but seriously! Taking the crazies to the post office which is ALWAYS out of control crowded. NO THANK YOU!!!
    Plus, it is so easy!
