A Phase

Brayden is in a phase right now.  A non picture taking phase.  And it makes this Mom*tog so very sad.  The funny thing is I really think I take way less pictures than your average mom.  But, either way he’s in a phase and I’m hoping he snaps out of it soon because I love taking this cute little guys picture.

Most of the time I get pictures like this…

But, sometimes I get gems like this.  And they make my heart happy.

You don’t even want to know what lengths I have to go to get him to smile for me!

All images taken at 2.0, 1/320, ISO 1250

my kids went through the same phase. It was frustrating! And then the next phase was just as annoying. They wanted to pose and give me fake cheesy smiles anytime I tried to catch them unaware with my lens.

Drew, I think all of the pictures you share on Momtog are just wonderful of B. I think all kids go through various stages of this. My 14 and 10 year old are like this right now and it’s hard to get a natural smile out of them. So I take photos of them anyway. Every once in a while, I snap a natural one and those are priceless to me. The most important this is that you take them, right? Oh yeah…. a few bribes every once in a while doesn’t hurt either! HA!

I totally understand. My oldest was and is like this. She turned 3 in April and is finally liking the camera again. I KNOW what lengths…

I know what you mean. My 2.5 year old son never wants to look at the camera. I have so many side of his head, top of his head or something in his face pictures!

I think that I should come out for a shoot where I take pictures of YOU doing what you do to get him to smile! I think those are the pictures that are the funniest! We moms make such fools of ourselves to get them to look happy in front of the camera!

And you’ve taken pictures of Kendall for the last four years…. so how long is that stage supposed to be anyway? :-)
