Potty Talk

Where have I been all week?  Potty training.  OMG.  I have never talked about poop and pee more than I have this week.  I have danced around with undies on my head.  I have been peed on.  I put a little portable potty in the back of my car.  With plastic bags.  That I’m going to have to change.  Gross.  I have said, “Remember to tell Mommy when you have to go to the potty” over and over and over.  And since when did I start calling the toilet a “potty”.  I hate the word potty.  I hate it almost as much as I hate the word “panties”.  It’s like nails on a chalkboard.

My friend Christie shard the 3 Day Potty Training method with me.  It’s worked pretty well.  We had some regression on the morning of Day 3.  On Day 3 we were both tired and had major cabin fever, which I think played a role in the major accidents we had.  The afternoon of Day 3 were good and so far Day 4 has been great.

I may have started a little early.  But, my boy is stubborn and I thought it would only get worse as he gets older.  With my schedule it’s really hard to find 3 full days when I can be home all day so we just went for it.  Plus, we have a new nanny starting next week and, to be totally honest, I want new carpets.  Totally selfish, I know.  But, there is no way I’m getting new carpets until this kid is potty trained!

I have a great picture of B on the potty (see!  I said it again!), but I’m choosing not to blog it.  I’m going to give the kid some privacy.  Don’t get me wrong, I totally texted it to the Grandparents, but the whole world doesn’t need to see it.  Here’s a more blogable picture of my happy boy playing in the pool this morning.  We’re finally getting warm weather in Orange County!  Yeah!  Hope your weekend is great!

I hate the “p word” I don’t even like typing it. I thought I was the only one who cringes at the word, I will use any other word beside that one. What’s wrong with calling them underwear? Anyway, good luck with the potty training!

Congrats on the successful potty training! My son, Barrett, is 2-1/2, and we JUST did the same thing this week! The 3 day method :) It amazes me how quickly they pick it up. But you’re so right…I’m sick of saying “tell Mommy when you have to go potty.” He’s probably sick of hearing it too! AND we have major cabin fever! Looking forward to leaving him with his Gigi & Papa tomorrow night, so we can have a night away from the house and the constant potty talk! ~Good luck!

Potty training is the worst, but so much better when it is done!! The word potty is awful. Just like panties. And secretions. Can’t stand those words. I always forget to ask if Addy needs to go before we leave the house so she always has to go in restaurants. Gross.

Way to go Mama! Ditto on the word potty…and the grossness of a potty in the car – So not look forward to this day, but I got to do it soon! Thanks for the Potty Training…hmmm, maybe you will be my motivation! Have fun shopping for new carpet :D !!!

We did 3 day potty training too and I recommend it to EVERYone! I think its one of the hardest things to do as a mommy. It takes way more patience than I was born with. Good job you two.

I’m getting ready to try the 3 day potty training for my son who will be 3 in October. I was going to try a few months ago, but I had just had a baby and we just moved a month ago. Now we are living in someone else’s house, so I’m not sure about the whole “messy” part of it. I have no confidence in myself when it comes to these kinds of things. Here’s to hoping this week goes well. With my 5 mo old not sleeping well and 3 long days of potty training ahead, it’s going to be an interesting week. Oh dear. Pray for me!

Potty training is a huge challenge, it was for me anyway! My son had an interest at 18 months so I thought, great! This should be fairly easy! It was the day that I screamed at the top of my lungs that I hated diapers that I knew I was the one to be “trained”, not Kieran. He wasn’t ready, so I backed off. When things calmed down, WE gave it another try. Still wasn’t easy…pee is one thing, poop? The stories I could tell-so gross! The point is, every child is different! For some, the 3 day method works (more power to them, I would have loved that, but it just wasn’t for us). At 3 1/4 years, Kieran was finally day time trained, by 4 night time trained. My 2 year old girl is next and I’ll have another one in November to share the “joys” with after that! Seriously though, it’s a big accomplishment for both of you and he’ll be so proud of himself! Good luck! :)

Oh the joys of potty training, I remember them well!!! SO glad that is behind us hehe! :) Sounds like you are doing well with it though! And PS. I live in San Diego and I can’t believe it took THIS long to get warm in SoCal!!! We went to the beach for the first time this past week- crazy! What happened this summer?! :)

I hate the word panties, too! :) Glad I’m not the only one.

I am laughing SO hard. I also DETEST the word potty AND panties. We don’t use either in our household!!! I made a big stink about it when we were potty training Nathan, who is about to turn four. It is the TOILET, NOT the potty. So all family members thankfully obliged me. Also, we called it pee and poop, not any other fancy fairy dinky made up names for it. We are about to potty train Cora, who is just past two, and so all these terms are fresh in my mind again… except she COULD possibly wear panties. But we’ve decided that EVERYONE in our house wears underwear. period. : )

anyway, it was hilarious to read that you, too, share this passion!
