Kindness

Some days it just seems like everything goes wrong.  Yesterday I had to wake my almost 3 year old early from his nap.  Only to be take him to the post office.  The last place he wants to go.  I have my hands full of packages.  Cranky almost 3 year old only wants to be held and throws a fit in the parking lot.  An elderly man walks by and gives a sympathetic smile.  A kind woman waits for me and slow almost 3 year old and holds the door open for us.  Cranky 3 year old knocks over all my packages.  I’m almost in tears.  Another kind lady helps me pick them up.  Man who works at the post office gives cranky almost 3 year old one of his hot wheels that he was eyeing.  Cranky 3 year old isn’t as cranky anymore.  Another kind man holds the door open for us as we leave.

Sometimes it’s just the simple kindness from strangers that can totally turn your day around.  You never know what other people are going through.  What can you do for a stranger today that might make their day a little better?

Daydreaming

Happy Monday!

Just One Shot…

A couple of weeks ago we traveled to Oahu for one of my very bestest friends weddings!  I was not the wedding photographer :)  Which was nice!  But, I did want to snap just one shot during the ceremony.  I had it pictured in my head.  A wide shot of the beautiful ceremony with the sun setting in the background.  That’s all I wanted!  I told the wedding photographer what I was going to do and promised not to get in her way.  I picked an aisle seat in the very back row specifically for that reason.  I stood up right after my friend walked down the aisle to get the shot out of the way.  Then, my husband turned around and mouthed, “Sit down!”.  Apparently I was embarrassing him.

See!  He looks embarrassed!  And mad!

I mouthed back, “No!  Turn around!”.  Because his stink eye was ruining my shot.

Then I got the shot and sat down and we were both happy.  The end.

Fancy Pictures

Even if you are a mommy blogger and not a professional photographer, it’s a good idea to mark your images.  I’m not a fan of big watermarks that take away from the picture, but a little one that let’s people know who took the picture is a great idea.  That way if someone steals your picture and does not give you credit, they should be able to trace it back to the person who took it.

Making a logo brush is easy!  The only thing you’ll need is Photoshop.  Just follow these easy steps and in less than 5 minutes you’ll have your own, fancy watermark!

1)  In Photoshop create a new document (click “file” and scroll down to “new”).  You can make it whatever size you’d like, but the key to this step is to make sure you make the background “transparent”.

2)  Click the “type” tool and then choose the font you’d like to use.

3)  Adjust the size of the font and the color.

4)  If you have multiple layers make sure to flatten them (Select “layer” and then “flatten image”).  Then click “edit” and scroll down to “define brush preset”.

5)  Name your brush whatever you’d like and now it is saved under your brush tools.  You’ve just done all the hard work!

6)  Now, you can close the image you just created and open up any web ready image.  Click on the “brush” tool and you’ll see the watermark you created at the very end.

7)  Simply click on the area of the image where you want your watermark and, wala!  You did it!  Now your photo looks all professional and fancy!

8)  Be sure to save your image as a “copy” or under a new name so you do not save over the original image with your watermark.

Have fun making all your pictures look super professional and fancy!
