My Little Man

Canon 5d, 24-70, 2.8

F2.8, 1/1600, Iso 125

I always measure Brayden’s hand against mine and tell him when it gets bigger than mine he will be a man.

Converstaion between us last week:

Brayden:  “I don’t want to be a man, mama.”

Me:  “Why?”

Brayden:  “Because when I’m a man I can’t live with you and daddy and I will be so sad.”

Me:  “But you won’t want to live with us anymore.  You’ll have your own family.”

Brayden (starts to cry) “I will never ever see you and I love you and I want to see you and live with you!”

Me:  “Oh, Brayden.  You’re not going to be a man for a long, long time and I promise you can live with us for as long as you want and we will see you all the time.”

Brayden:  “Thank you, Mommy.  I’ll just stay a little boy forever.”

I hope he does.

  1. Oh my! Don’t you wish he could keep that promise? What a sweetheart. I tried getting mine to sign a contract that she won’t grow anymore. Somehow I don’t think that will work either. But, at least each new age is so fun!

  2. Okay, I think I should be LAUGHing, but I am crying. Seriously!
I just look at my little boy and think how fast time goes by and it is exciting, yet sad to think of him not being small enough to fit in my lap.

So sweet! And how fun to always be able to look back and read this conversation!

2 things…1. I had the same conversation with my son last year when he was three. He got very upset too when I told him one day he will have his own family. I think that means we are raising them right! They don’t wanna leave us! 2. We go to that park all the time! My boys love it because they play knights and pirates!

This sounds like such a familiar conversation!! My eight year-old has now consented that she just needs to live next door when she is a mom. My almost 14 year-old is starting to see that it might be okay to actually live away when she goes to college. So thankful that the desire to leave is a gradual process!! I think it will be saddest for me when my youngest boy starts to think about leaving :( !!

OH MY GOODNESS! In tears right now! I hope my little guy is as sentimental as that, but something tells me he won’t be.

What a touching story!! And what a sweet little man. My 3-year-old boy started crying the other evening because he never wants to move and leave our “beautiful house.” What a sweet age!

That is so sweet, and it makes me cry for all the little moments that are so precious. Somedays I can barely remember them at that same age and it wasn’t that long ago.

Sydney made me make a promise to her– that if the day ever comes when she wants to move out of the house (which she insists will never happen) I will ground her, forbid her to ever leave and remind her that she promised to never leave me when she was little. :-) . I always tell her the same thing… That she can stay forever… :-)

That’s the kind of sweet answers that our little loves are able to give us when we give them our time and attentions.

    What a joy!

I love the innocence of little ones. Even my 9 year old thinks he doesn’t want to leave. But….I that soon changes, as i have older ones that can’t wait to get out of the house. Enjoy that precious little man. He’s so sweet. Reading him say that about made me cry.
