Bows and Blowouts

I always thought when I had a little girl that she would have a million bows. One for each outfit and occasion. Well, it turns out Kennedy doesn’t love bows. And I have a hard time keeping track of them. I bought two super cute ones from Lillybug Lane at a craft fair a few weeks ago and they are gone. Nowhere to be found. They are probably with all of our missing socks.

Have I mentioned that I like her? A lot.
Kennedy is awesome. Except she poops. A lot. We get a blowout once a day. I got pooped on yesterday. Right after I took a shower. She has impeccable timing. I try to save everything, but I’m usually not fast enough with the stain remover spray. The onesie she is wearing in the above pictures (which was a gift from my friend Kristi and has the cutest ruffles on the butt) is our latest casualty. She had blow outs twice in this number. I get so sad when she either outgrows or ruins my favorite outfits. Does anyone else get super attached to their kids clothes or am I the only crazy one?

Ahhh, I get attached to outfits too! So don’t feel like the lone ranger! At least you have these awesome pictures of her in a favorite outfit! She is precious!
Have you tried lemon juice on the stains? Rinse the clothing item with cold water, then put a little lemon juice on the stain. Put the item out in the sun to dry and you should have a stain free item in a few hours. Be careful on dark colored clothing, as it can lighten the fabric. You may want to check it in a small area first. I got this idea from the Queen of Clean and it worked every time.
If she’s still breastfed, sun alone will take the stains right out. Just moisten them and lay them in full sun for an hour or so. It doesn’t work as well with formula poopy stains, but it does at least lighten them. Anyway, once I found that out about the sun (baby #2 out of 5) I never had a poopy ruined outfit again.

I had great success with the Oxyclean Gel Stain Stick thingy. I’m not sure they would appreciate me not actually knowing the name but it worked like a charm, and you can put the gel on and wait a few days before washing.
I thought I had several ruined outfits as well until I finally figured this trick out, at least it works for me and it has even taken out stains that were at least 2 years old, clothes had been “stain treated” multiple times and then have been in storage. I spray the area with a stain remover (resolve or spray n’wash) and then sprinkle on Oxi Clean powder, spritz it again just to moisten the powder and let sit for a few hours or overnight, if it is a fresh stain then you can do this and then wash right away. It has worked everytime for me! Also I would recommend another wash without the spray and Oxi Clean to remove any residual cleaner so it doesn’t irritate baby’s sweet skin. Good luck!
OxyClean has become my new BFF. Attached is the understatement of the year!
ha! I totally had that problem but honestly, girls get SO MANY cute outfits anyway, it’s easy to move on.
I did get that Ruffle Butt from my awesome girlfriend who is crazy crafty @ http://www.etsy.com/shop/theposhladybug
I’ll have to ask her if she is making more, haha.
Although, have you tried a different diaper brand? Some kids butts just like different brands!

My little one is 6 months old, and I do get sad when she outgrows her cute outfits!! In the beginning especially, it seemed like she wore something once and then it was too small. Thank goodness for photos!
Say it isn’t so! Thank goodness there is one in the mail coming to you! hehe I totally just mailed you a special package before I saw this! lol We’ll have to replenish her bow stash!

I saved a couple of outfits for each of my 4 boys. Some I just could not part with. Favorite outfits were photographed as well so we could remember them forever. I had to deal with lots of blow outs- breastmilk seemed a lot worse than formula. The only product that saved clothes was Bio Ox. I got it at our local fair one year thinking “yeah right. This stuff won’t really work.” My oldest is now 10 and I use this product to this day. I order it online by the gallon.
I have a fav outfit – panda footsie.
Blow outs are inevitable but thankfully lessen once solids start. But stink factor also rises. Win some lose some.
By the way, I thought you were going to talk about “blowouts” in images when I first read the post title

I totally get attached to my baby’s clothes, especially the newborn sizes! Just looking at them takes me back to how sweet and tiny they were and reminds me how fast time flies. And after two boys I had my first girl, and I have zillions of bows/headbands. She hardly wears any of them, especially now that she’s 1 and can take them off and toss ‘em.
I am like you, I love certain dresses or outfits and am sad when they ruin or outgrow them. I have saved my favorites in the hope to make or have a quilt/blanket made out of squares of my favorites one day
Too funny! I have 12-week old and 17-month old sons. This must be the day of the poo, as I’ve also been dealing with the blowouts. And yes, I also get sad when my boys destroy (or outgrow) their cutest duds–it happens all too frequently. What’s a mama to do? Try to get a photo of the child in said outfit beforehand!

oh i’ve gone out and bought another size of an outfit or particularly a pair of shoes that I just love! so no you’re not the only one!
Oh my goodness your pictures of her are just to die for!!
I have a 8 week old boy and he has some serious force behind him (if you know what I mean) We were having blow outs too and I switched from huggies to pampers swaddlers… haven’t had a blow out since!! I highly recommend them…
It does just break your heart when they ruin such beautiful little baby clothes. Good luck and I hope it gets better!
Ah! She is so precious! Oxi-Clean works wonders on clothes… for bad stains, you can do one of 2 things 1) use water and oxi-clean to make a ‘paste’ and put on the stain, just don’t leave for more than a few hours or so or 2) put some oxi-clean in the sink, fill with water and drop the outfit in there for several hours. Both seem to work great for me!

Not sure what brand of diapers you use but when I had my twins I used Huggies and had blowouts all the time. So I switched to Pampers swaddlers then ultra dry. 4 kids later and still using Pampers with my new little 7 week old. I hate ruining cute outfits.
I get super attached to my daughter’s clothes! I use the oxi-clean gel stick to get stains out. Works wonders. It’s gotten so much poop out it’s ridiculous. Good luck! Hope it gets better soon
Love your site!
I’m pretty sure my little girl (almost 3 months) has 1) peed on me more than my son (3yrs) ever did! and 2) had more blowouts! Not cool. I haven’t ruined any clothing though. I breast feed, don’t know if that makes a difference on staining. I use All Free and Clear with Oxi, Clorox color safe sensative, some Clorox color safe stain remover, and some baking soda. Baking soda is my new favorite add in to laundry. Maybe try switching stain removers.
Yes, I get crazy attached to my little girls clothing. I did with my son too. Some outfits are just perfect!
