Photographing friends is scary. And intimidating. Especially good friends. Because you know they will make fun of every single thing you do. And they will call you out if you act like a dork. Which I regularly do while taking pictures. So this shoot was particularly scary for me because Nichole is one of my closest friends from college. Well, technically, we didn’t become friends until after college. Because she hated my guts. But, let’s let bygones be bygones. We are friends now and that’s all that matters
Nichole and Kit grew up together but didn’t start dating until about 10 years after graduation. I think I may have even been with Nichole one of the first nights that they rekindled their friendship. Kit makes Nichole (and all of us, really) laugh. Don’t ever play Cards Against Humanity with him. Trust me. One of the things that I’ve grown to love about Kit as I’ve gotten to know him better is how protective he is of Nichole. You kind of think he’s just this big joker, but he actually seems to me to be very cautious. And I’ve seen this trait come out more as Nichole’s pregnancy has progressed. It makes me happy to know my friend is in great hands, but also I know he will be protective of little, redheaded Carl.
Nichole, you are going to be an amazing mom. I am excited to snuggle your baby boy, and then promptly hand him back so you can do all the hard work You have been such a huge support to me over the past 7 plus years. You have listened to me worry, complain, and brag about my kids. You are the first one I call when one of them is sick or hits their heads. I know I can’t offer the same medical advice to you, but I hope you know that I am always a phone call and a short drive away on the 55 from you if you ever need anything
