I started photographing this family as a family of 3. And then they added another girl. And finally their boy to become a family of 5. I have loved watching them grow. Loved seeing all of the kid’s different personalities form. Loved seeing how their relationships grew. I love getting to see them every year and getting big hugs from Jayden who I think looks forward to seeing me almost as much as I look forward to seeing her. I’m still working on Cameron and Landon But that is the coolest part of my job. Forming a bond with these kids and becoming invested in them. Becoming part of their family memories. Because as much as I want them to love their pictures I also want them to remember that they had fun while creating those photos.
When I learned that my friend Katie had never had a proper newborn session I pretty much demanded that I do one for her. I mean, this is her fifth baby AND she’s a professional photographer (a great one at that) and she’s never had a newborn session before. This madness needed to stop.
Katie photographed our vow renewal last year and it was then I learned that she was pregnant with baby Charlie. I don’t know how she does it. Mom to now five kids and running a successful business. I can barely do it with 2. #supermom Katie is just a good person. She second shot for me when she first moved back to California and I always felt like Katie had my back. She anticipated what I needed before I needed it and she really was there to do anything I needed. She put my needs before hers and I can’t say that for many of my other second shooters. We had a lot of fun times together, but my very favorite memory of Katie was the first time she second shot for me. Her dad randomly showed up with her favorite sandwich. It was so sweet and she was so embarrassed!
The pictures that Katie took for us mean the world to me and my family. I hope these memories from their first few days as a family of 5 can begin to repay what she did for us.
This session had all my favorite things. Cute new baby. Fun toddler that I haven’t seen since I photographed his first birthday session. Beautiful vintage home. Awesome light. Laid back parents. I mean, it doesn’t get any better.
I had so much fun getting to hang out with this family again. And now with their two beautiful boys. Thanks Kristine and Eric for welcome me into your home!
I’m going on just a few hours of sleep so I’m going to keep this brief because I know Erin is excited to see these! Not only has it been very cool to see Mackenzie grow over the last year, but it’s been awesome to see these sisters bond. Just a few months ago Lex still wasn’t so sure about her baby sister. Looks like she realizes Kenzie isn’t going anywhere and has accepted her into their family. I dare to say that Lex might even like her now Happy birthday, Mackenzie! You are a lucky girl to have been born into a family with as much love as yours!
